On their nightly excursions to beautify their surroundings and tend to nearby gardens, Gnomes will collect bits of discarded metal and electronic materials to construct their contraptions and crude devices. Gnomes are careful to only take items that won't be missed or draw attention to their habitats. Occasionally, however, a Gnome comes along... a more... uncouth Gnome perhaps, who lacks the traditional Gnomish caution, modesty and discretion shared by the others of this noble race.
From birth, Gnomes teach their children to be stealthy and to generally go about their lives unnoticed. When Gnomes have proven they have no turn down, they are banished from Gnomish society and shunned by their peers. As Gnomes can sense each other's presence, living or dead, these outcast Gnomes often find each other and band up to travel and work together as roaming Gnomadic festies.
Always on the search for spoils, for hundreds of years these rogue gnomes would follow circus' and traveling freak shows or pop up at county fairs dressed as clowns and entertaining while their cohorts would wade in and out of the crowds. These days they may be more commonly found wearing a Jester's hat at a renaissance fair, taking pictures, or partying too hard at the carnival. When the Gnomes have sufficiently drained every drop of party they can squeeze from a festival season, they return to the loot spot with their spoils.
This is a dangerous game they play, like all Gnomes they will turn to stone at sunrise if they have not returned underground. Otherwise, they have to hope to find a sufficiently safe hiding spot to ride out the day until reanimation the next nightfall. Poachers seek them out for the magical powers they are rumored to possess. If they are captured they will be broken into pieces and auctioned off to the highest bidding human to be used for whatever sadistic desires they may have. Whether baked into bread, ground to powder, or used as some weird aphrodisiac, it is a peril no Gnome wants to face. Avoiding capture is their highest concern as they navigate through the circuits living their never ending party lifestyle.
On a long and lonesome highway, east of Arkansas stands the beginning of a roadside theme park called Big Top Gnome Spot. This represents the collective dream that someday the spoils will come to them and at dawn, the Gnomes can return to their bunker safely out of reach from the hunters. To this end, they party across the globe and return with as much booty as they can carry in order to build out their passion project, the Big Top Gnome Spot, directly on top of the Big Top Gnome's underground complex.
